Bromelain
Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme derived from the latex of the plant stem. It is a non-specific protease, meaning that it breaks down many different types of peptide bonds. In addition, some studies indicate that bromelain may affect certain cytokines produced by white blood cells. Bromelain may be used as a digestive aid for food proteins.
